The Michigan Chapter of the not-for-profit Confrérie de la Chaîne des Rôtisseurs is a the entire state of Michigan but our headquarters are in Detroit and we have events all over the Metro Detroit area. We are a fun group of food and wine lovers who enjoy meeting new people and having a good time together; we have all made god friends through The Chaine and enjoy the camaraderie!

For over 25 years, Nidal M. Daher, Sommelier, Certified by the Court of Master Sommeliers, has both conducted operations and consulted numerous restaurants, hotels, retail and wholesale wine distributors, inclusive of wine director, event sommelier and catalogue scriber for the Detroit International Wine Auction. During these years, he has represented and marketed many California wineries in addition to the staging of wine seminars and classes throughout the metropolitan Detroit area.

In 1996, the prestigious Chaine des Rotisseurs, an international French gourmet society, inducted Nidal into its selective roster. Nidal has been recognized as a premiere wine cellar designer and consultant in Michigan. In 1997, Nidal founded the first and only Michigan wine consulting company, “SOMMELIER CONNECTIONS, INC”, and since expanded to include a division called “UNIQUE WINE CELLARS” dedicated to custom designing and building wine cellars and cooling equipment components. Today, Unique Wine cellars is recognized as  complete, creative, and innovative wine cellar storage solutions.

As the former fine wine director and General Manager for the Merchant’s Fine Wine Cellars, a division of the Merchant of Vino, the largest wine retail chain in Michigan, Nidal was responsible for the operation, buying and marketing of fine wine. He has continually established an excellent working relationship with distributors, importers and prestigious wine makers from around the world. This position also afforded him the opportunity to visit many of the wine regions in Europe and California which increased his knowledge and experience with quality wines.

Nidal co-authored, Romance Begins in the Kitchen, a unique book that opens the door to the art of food and wine pairing and brings home the European idea of dinning in a romantic setting. In addition, he contributed articles on food & wine to several local and national publications. He has also guest lectured at the School of Hotel, Restaurant and Institutional Management, at Michigan State University.

Nidal M. Daher has consistently offered an entertaining, enlightening comprehensive approach to wine appreciation through his popular wine course and wine tasting event in and around the Detroit metro area. The Detroit area restaurants, hotel professionals, novices and experienced wine collectors proudly recognize and respect his outstanding credentials as an expert and educator in the fascinating field of wine.
